Close encounters of the bird kind

What's more exciting to see and photograph on a hike than wildlife? You never feel closer to nature than when you've managed to go far enough into it that you end up with a bear staring at you...or a lynx...or a rattlesnake. Some of them are certainly friendlier than others, but all are worth respecting, admiring, and possibly running away from. From birds to bears, I'll keep my favorite fauna fotos in this page.

June 5, 2023: Critter Olympics

Olympic National Park was PACKED with critters of every type. Birds flitting around us in the high alpine, sea life of every type resting in tidal pools, and apex predators like bears and eagles roaming where they please.
